I. Financial and Commercial Sector
Financial institutions not only provide employment to San Josenians but also boosts the upliftment of standard of living of the people especially farmers/ low-income families by extending low interest on credit and high interest on deposits. Hereunder is the list of Banks, Financial , Lending Institutions operating in San Jose City.(see table 49)The table below is the list of financial/credit companies which operate in the city. Included in the table are lending institutions and financial services which offer financial assistance to business establishments and to those who are going to put up their business.(see table 50)The table below (Table 51) is the list of insurance companies which operate in the city. Included in the table are lending institutions which offer financial assistance to business establishments and to those who are considering starting up their businesses in the city.(see table 51)Registered business/ commercial establishments in the city consists a total of 4,104 (Table 52).This figure has increased by 39.92% percent compared to the previous year’s data of 2,933 business establishments.(see table 52)To date, Commercial Buildings as well as industrial sites are developed and constructed at the Central Business District (CBD) and at the agro-industrial zone of the city, respectively which indicates a good development.
II. Wholesale and Retail Trade
As a proof of active business climate, the city has a complete array of business establishments, which shows that San Jose is a center for business, not only for its local clients but for neighboring towns as well. The biggest chunk of businesses comes from the retailing and merchandising sector. Moreover, the city is now gearing for business expansion as a result of better exchanges of goods and capital. Hereunder are the Top Corporations by Gross Receipts, providing employment to the populace.(see table 50)Industrialization is confined at the southeastern side of the city proper along the road going to Llanera wherein existing rice mills line up and serve as catchment basin of palay products from Llanera and Rizal aside from the huge palay production in the eastern side of the city. Aside from rice mills, some poultry farms are also situated in this side of the city while the others are located on some barangays.
