A. PARTICIPATION RATE LEVEL 

The table below indicates that participation rate in elementary level which is 94.67% quite higher than the secondary level of 92.67%. It will be noted however that elementary and secondary school age in the city are high, an indication that grown-up guidance are keeping an special eye on education as a tool to self development and success. (see table 19)

B. NAME, NUMBER AND LOCATION OF SCHOOLS

Table 20 reflects that there are around sixty seven (67) elementary schools within the city, forty eight (48) of which are public while seventeen (19) are privately managed. In secondary level, there are seven (7) public high schools and ten (10) private secondary schools.

C. OTHER EDUCATIONAL STATISTICS

C.1 Enrollment for the past two (2) years, Public & Private, Elementary & Secondary

Public Elementary Schools have the highest number of enrollees of elementary students of 19,546 in year 2014 while private elementary schools have 3,805 enrollees. Currently, the enrollment in public elementary is 19,413 decreasing a number of 133 pupils compared to previous year (2014) while private elementary registered an enrollment of 4,172 registering an increase of 367 from 3,805 of the previous year.

In a total of 8,269 pre-elementary students in the city (Table 18, 25 & 26), most enrollments are coming from the private schools consisting of 18 academic institutions with a total number of 3,593 pupils or 43.35% followed by day care centers pupils operated by San Jose City Social Welfare & Development Office with a total number of
2,571 or 31.01% followed by San Jose East Central School PTCA initiated classes (Table 25) totaling to 2,105 or 25.45%.

The public services provided by the Department of Education is composed of combination of Districts, the San Jose West District and the San Jose East District which is composed of 48 elementary schools. There are also 19 private elementary schools all located in the poblacion area, one of which is a church ministry school.

There are seven (7) public high schools scattered in the north east and west portion of the city with the main public high school at the city proper which is the Constancio Padilla National High School. The others are, Sto. Nino High School, Kita-Kita High School, Tayabo High School, Tondod High School, Porais National High School
and Caanawan National High School. A number of ten (10) secondary schools are being operated privately in the city, all located in the urban area.

Schools offering complete degrees from pre-elementary to post Graduate studies include CORE Gateway College and San Jose Christian College.

Institutions such as Don Bosco Training Center and Provincial Manpower Training Center (PMTC) are offering one year to 15 months training courses while St. Mary’s College of Technology, STI, CRT and IES Phil are offering two (2) year vocational and I.T. Courses. Likewise, St. Augustine Foundation Colleges is offering Caregiving and a number
of Undergraduate Courses.

The table above (Table 31) reflect that San Jose City has around ten (10) tertiary schools, two (2) of which offer complete level of education from pre-school to post graduate studies; the CORE Gateway College and the San Jose Christian Colleges.
