San Jose City is being envisioned as a health and recreational hub. Complementary to that, the city government had since long put up gymnasiums con covered courts both in rural and urban barangays. As of date, all 38 barangays have more than one of them which only vary in size and design. The facilities cater to different programs and functions of the barangays however most are particularly for sports programs and or for everyday leisure workouts or play of barangay constituents. The city has a main sports venue for public which is the PAG-ASA Sports Complex located at Maharlika Road, San Jose City. It is utilized for basketball games, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and sepak takraw. The city has one enclosed gymnasium, the Simeon Garcia Memorial Gym which is open for ball games and badminton.
Some privately owned/operated establishments are also operational within the city . The Resty Tan Memorial Tennis Court is operational beside at PAG-ASA Sports Complex Compound. The Badminton court/Multi purpose Hall at Narra Lodge 171 is also being open and privately managed. Another Table Tennis Court is operating at Palmones Compound, Josephine Village. A Karatedo and Martial Arts Center is open for students. Privately managed, it is located at Melcar Subdivision and is a pride of the city as it handles students who vie for the national level competitions.
